The Barkhausen Institute performs research on the latest hardware, software and communication technologies and demonstrates their application in tomorrow's society. Our goal is to build a flexible and trustworthy IoT platform based on reliable electronics and secure communication methods.

The RF Design Enablement group researches and develops dependable IoT systems with focus on three key research topics such as joint radar-communication system, antenna-system design with meta-surface and physical layer security. We focus our research on designing building blocks, while identifying critical hardware parameters for next-generation hardware systems and applications.

To help pursue our research agenda, we are looking for a

Student Assistant – IC Design and Layout (m/f/d)

(up to 19 hours/week for 3-6 months) 

The project  

The student will help in design and layout of analog/RF circuits using CMOS/FDSOI processes. Necessary training for layout will be provided (as needed).

Your tasks

  • Developing layout using Cadence Virtuoso tools
  • Design of analog circuits or RF sub blocks
  • Creation of testbenches and design specific analog/RF blocks
  • Simulation and verification of assigned circuits

We expect the following

  • Study of electrical/electronic engineering or comparable
  • Basic knowledge in analog/RF circuit design
  • Students who have taken relevant courses preferred
  • Prior experience in CMOS/FDSOI layout using Cadence virtuoso tools preferred
  • Good communication and writing skills in English
